Congressman Ric
Keller and Senator Mel Martinez Deliver Millions to Protect
Troops
August 16, 2005
ORLANDO, FL -- U.S. Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL) today
joined Congressman Ric Keller (R-Orlando) for a tour of
CyTerra Corporation, an Orlando-based company that produces
explosive detection devices being used by American troops
around the world. Mr. Keller and Mr. Martinez also announced
details of a $19.8 million dollar Pentagon contract for
the company that will have a huge impact on Central Florida.
"As we've seen in Iraq and most recently in the London
bombings, we need to be developing ever more sophisticated
ways to find explosives. The detection devices being
produced right here in Orlando are literally the difference
between life and death for our troops fighting overseas."
- Congressman
Ric Keller
“Our military men and women are literally in the line
of fire and deserve the best technology available. Explosive
detection devices, like those produced here at CyTerra,
are employed every day during the war on terror and
protect thousands of men and women overseas. New technologies
allow us to better prepare for potential threats here
at home. As the former Mayor of Orange County I know
the challenges our local leaders face. The Orlando area
alone hosts 45 million tourists each year. It is essential
that we recognize vulnerabilities and the new technologies
that will help protect the public at large.” - Senator
Mel Martinez
